Derech Pikudecha by the Bnei Yissachar
First Edition. Lemberg, 1851
Explanations on the 613 mitzvos by Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov, author of ‘Bnei Yissachar’.
In his sefer, the Bnei Yissachar explains each mitzvah in three ways: Action, words and thoughts.
Action – the laws of the mitzva as is brought down in halacha;
Words– chiddushim and insights from the Bnei Yissachar himself; and
Thoughts – the depth of each mitzvah according to the secrets of Torah and Chassidus.
While it was intended for the sefer to go through all 613 mitzvos, only the first 58 mitzvos were published. Some say this alludes to the 58 years of the Bnei Yissachar’s lifetime.
The Bnei Yissachar, the Rebbe
Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov (1783-1841) was one of the great Rebbes and disseminators of Chassidus, renowned throughout the world for his piety, sanctity and righteousness. He was a prolific writer whose sefarim serve as cornerstones of the Chassidic library and offer a faint glimpse into his awe-inspiring genius and fluency in all realms of Torah; “and many thirstily drink from his holy words” (ibid).
A rare sefer!
