Likutei Torah by the Rebbe Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl. Chernobyl, 1854
A rare and important manuscript comprising an anthology of Divrei Torah by the saintly Rebbe, Rabbi Mordechai son of the Maggid Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Chernobyl.
The present manuscript was copied by Rabbi Yehoshua ben Chaya Bracha (see colophon) approximately six years prior to the publishing date. It contains several differences from the sefer printed in Czernowitz, 1860, as well as several additions.
The title reveals that this manuscript was compiled and written in the city of Chernobyl and the colophon (leaf 96a) marks the year as 5614 (1854).
Likutei Torah by the Rebbe Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl was only brought to print in 1860, some 23 years after his passing. Throughout this time, his righteous sons and disciples, who still yearned for the beauty of his Torah, devoted countless hours to delving into the manuscripts that the Rebbe had authored throughout his lifetime. Even after the manuscript was printed and disseminated to the public, they continued plumbing the depths of his manuscripts, explaining that the printed sefer encompassed numerous errors.
The last page features the words, "A copy from the handwriting of the Rebbe on the Pinkas De-Chevra Mishnayos."
