The manuscript is edited and arranged for printing with a title page and the author’s introduction. On the reverse of the title page is a ‘Song in Praise of Torah and its Learners’.
It was printed in Jerusalem in 1907 based on this manuscript, by the author’s brother, with a haskama from the Rishon L’Tzion, author of ‘Yissa Bracha’.
Rabbi Shmuel Adeni was born in Aden in 1863 to a distinguished rabbinic family, among the most important in Aden. His grandfather was Mori Yeshua, Raavad and Chief Rabbi in Aden. He was wealthy and owned properties and did not need to serve in the rabbinate. He visited Jerusalem twice. In the second part of the printed Nachalas Yosef, he described his visits to Jerusalem, as well as the customs of the city of Aden and its rabbanim, which serves as an important historical source for the history of Yemen’s chachamim.
