Exceedingly rare!

Drush al HaTorah V’Hamitzvos by the Maharal of Prague
First Edition. Prague, 1593

A fundamental drashah delivered by the Maharal of Prague on the festival of Shavuos, 1592 in Posen.

This drashah is renowned as the “Drush al HaTorah V’Hamitzvos” and relates to the foundations and essence of Torah since the time of the receiving of the Torah. It also explains and clarifies the verses relating to this topic, conditions required to accept Torah, and even methods of Torah study.

All works by the Maharal of Prague are rare, sought-after items, and the present drashah is one of the rarest of all! To the best of Zaidy’s knowledge, this item has not been presented at a public auction in many years.

Rabbi Yehudah Loew (~1512-1609), the Maharal of Prague, was one of the greatest Jewish sages and mystics of all time; his name is mentioned in the same breath as Rabbi Yosef Karo and the Arizal. He was a prolific author whose deep philosophical works on all realms of Torah are fundamental Jewish classics.

In the last pages of this drashah, the Maharal cautions Klal Yisrael at length about the prohibition of stam yeinam (wine touched by gentiles), and these remarks were disseminated throughout Europe.
