Illustrated Pesach Haggadah
Pressburg, 1834
Printed during the Chasam Sofer’s lifetime!
Pesach Haggadah printed in unique format with its width surpassing its height. The Haggadah is printed on delicate light blue paper.
This Haggadah was printed in 1834, during the life of the Chasam Sofer, in his hometown of Pressburg!
The Haggadah was meticulously edited by the famed Hebrew grammarian Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim whom the Chasam Sofer extolled, “If not for him, all liturgies (piyutim) would have been forgotten” (Kovetz Teshuvos Chasam Sofer Ch. 48).
This is the very first illustrated Haggadah printed in Pressburg and features five impressive copperplate illustrations on folded pages which are larger than the book’s pages.
These illustrations were created specifically for this Hagaddah and were not copied from previous ones!
