The letter deals with community issues, sent to leaders of the Jewish community of Ancona. is written in Italian, with concluding lines in Lashon Hakodesh written in prose, in the very handwriting and signature of Rabbi Raphael Yeshaya.

Rabbi Raphael Yeshaya Azulai (1743-1826), the firstborn son of the Chida, was great in Torah and responded to halachic questions. several of his responses appear in the books of his great father who cherished and honored him, always mentioning him in his writings with great affection (B’ni B’echori He’chacham Hashalem He’atzum Verav, Or Einai and Yedid Nafshi).

From 1785, he was the rabbi of Ancona on his father’s recommendation, for forty years until his passing on the 9th of Shevat 5586 (1826), and his days were like his father’s – 83 years. Great honor was given to him upon his
 passing.
