Autographed Letter by the Yesod Ha’Avodah to His Chassidim in Teveria. Slonim, 1878
The present letter, completely handwritten and autographed by the Admor Rabbi Avraham of Slonim, the Yesod Ha’Avodah, was dispatched from the town of Slonim to his chassidim in Teveria addressed to the Roshei Kollel of Slonim with guidance regarding taking loans
“If it is necessary to save lives and sustain the souls of the destitute [members] of our Kollel…”
In this letter, the Yesod Ha’Avodah inquiries after the welfare of his chassidim and family in Teveria and showers them with his love, blessings and best wishes.
The letter concludes with the heartwarming closing,
“Seeking your welfare and the peace of all my beloved, your friend who loves you and seeks your peace and goodness, and shares that we are all healthy and [living] in peace. With a loving heart and soul, Avraham.”
The Admor Rabbi Avraham Weinberg (1804-1884), the illustrious Yesod Ha’avodah of Slonim, was the founder and progenitor of the Slonim Chassidic dynasty. Born in Pinsk in 1804, he was a disciple of Rabbi Noach of Lechovitch and Rabbi Moshe of Kobrin. Rabbi Avraham was a brilliant scholar who established and stood at the helm of the hailed yeshivah in Slonim. In 1858, he was crowned Admor of Slonim, and his Holy Court attracted thousands of chassidim. His famous works include
