The Sefer Hamitzvos Hagadol (Sma”g), rulings and commentaries on the 613 mitzvos, categorized into positive mitzvos and negative mitzvos, by Rav Moshe of Kotzi, one of the leading Baalei Tosafos in the 13th century.

This edition was widely used by the leading poskim in the following generations, because of its commentary by Rav Yitzchak Stein.. This is the master edition, according to which all subsequent editions have been printed.



Venice [1547], first edition with the commentary of Rav Yitzchak Stein, . Pages: 250, [2], 251-316. Size: 30.5 cm. Good condition,   Restorations on the cover and the last pages. old signatures at the beginning of the sefer. Antique parchment binding.

A distinguished copy: On page 265 appears a footnote in the characteristic handwriting of Rav Zvi Hirsh Levin, Rav of Berlin. At the beginning of the sefer is an inscription, attributing the sefer to him. Rav Berlin (1721-1800), son of Rav Aryeh Leib, Rav of Amsterdam, and grandson of the Chacham Zvi, was one of the greatest Ashkenaz Rabbanim in his times, serving in the communities of London, Mannheim, Halberstadt and Berlin. His brother was Rav Shaul of Amsterdam.
