Jerusalem, 1888

"May Hashem bless you from Zion" – A letter from two leaders of Eretz Yisrael Jewry, written on a beautiful page printed with golden letters!

It was sent to Dr. Eliezer HaLevi, the famous secretary of Sir Moses Montefiore, thanking him for donations received from California, "for our brethren dwelling in the four holy cities: Jerusalem and Chevron, Tzfas and Teveria, may they be built and established."

The letter is signed in the holy handwriting of the great Rabbi Shmuel Salant, leader of the Ashkenazi community in Eretz Yisrael, the legendary Rav of Jerusalem!

Rabbi Shmuel Salant (1816-1909) was known for his Torah knowledge and wisdom, and led the Ashkenazi community in Jerusalem for nearly 70 years!

Next to his signature is the signature of the leader of the Sephardi community in Eretz Yisrael, the Chacham Bashi Rabbi Raphael Meir Panigel (1804-1893), among the renowned sages of Eretz Yisrael for decades, and mechutan of the Yissa Bracha.

His large impressive seal appears beneath the signature.

This letter is among the most beautiful letters from Rabbi Shmuel Salant ever seen at auctions!
