Divrei David – Commentary of the Taz on Rashi on the Torah.

First Edition. Rare. Dyhernfurth, 1689

A commentary on Rashi on the Five Books of the Torah, by Rabbeinu David HaLevi Segal, Baal HaTaz, one of the greatest Ashkenazi poskim of all times. Already in his lifetime, halacha was established according to him.

A rare sefer. Even many years ago, this sefer was considered "very precious" (words on the cover of the Warsaw edition, 1881).

Rabbeinu HaTaz (1586-1667) was born in the city of Ludmir, Ukraine (on the Polish border) and was a disciple and son-in-law of the Bach. He fled the city after the Chmielnicki massacres of 1648–1649 and later arrived in Lvov (Lemberg) where he became the rabbi and rosh yeshiva.

It was printed in the printing house of Rabbi Shabsai "Meshorer" Bass from Prague who wrote the famous commentary "Sifsei Chachamim" on Rashi of the Torah.

After only three years, the commentary of the Taz on Orach Chaim was printed there together with the Magen Avraham, and it is the first edition of the ‘Meginei Eretz".
