The Will of Harav Sheftel son of the Shl”a
and the Chasam Sofer’s Instruction to Learn ‘Shefa Tal’

“My sons, first learn sefer Shefa Tal, from beginning to end, as it speaks in a pure, pristine language. One who possesses slight wisdom shall focus upon it, and learn these words of the Living G-d” (Will of Harav Sheftel ben HaShl”a)

He likewise inscribed in his sefer ‘Vavei Ha’Amudim’: “It is necessary to learn the wisdom of kabbalah, and especially that we are privileged to have this wonderful work of my cousin HaGaon Harav Sheftel, author of Shefa Tal Livrachah, who began revealing this wisdom in direct, clear prose. One who is well-versed in his sefer can then learn Sefer Hapardes without any questions or doubts, and it is also beneficial for one who wishes to study kabbalah…”

The Chasam Sofer instructed his disciple Maharam As"h to learn sefer Shefa Tal.
