Maharsha’s Novellae – Vienna 1814 – With a Picture of the Maharsha.
Chiddushei Halachot by the Maharsha – one of the foundational books on the Talmud, with a large engraving on a full page depicting the Maharsha writing his book in his study room surrounded by books.
In the picture, the Maharsha is seen with long hair – according to legend, the Maharsha grew his hair long in order to tie it with a rope to the ceiling, so that if he fell asleep while studying, he would immediately wake up.
At the bottom of the picture, it’s printed: "Sebastian Langer fecit" [Made by Sebastian Langer].
On the margins of the pages, collections from the Geonim, the author of Tiferet Shmuel, Chacham Tzvi Ateret Rosh, and even an annotation from the Gra (in the margins of Tractate Berachot page 41, see Otzar Sifrei HaGra No. 423) are printed.
The Maharsha was printed with precise proofreading by Rabbi Aharon Pollak, Rabbi Michael Nadash (father of the Dushinsky family), and Rabbi Moshe Schwarzfeld.
