The title page boasts a lengthy handwritten provenance dated 1672 along with the autograph of the famed Kabbalist
Rabbi Dovid Grünhut of Frankfurt (d. 1723) who authored the popular commentary on
Sefer Hachassidim (Frankfurt am Main, 1713) and the sefarim
Tov Roi and
Migdal Dovid (Frankfurt am Main, 1702). Rabbi Dovid Grünhut served as Rabbi of several prominent Jewish communities in Germany and was one of the venerated scholars in the great Yeshivah of Frankfurt which was founded by his cousin Rabbi Dovid Oppenheim. He published the first edition of
Sefer Hagilgulim (Frankfurt am Main, 1684); the Radak’s commentary on Tehillim with his annotations (Frankfurt am Main, 1712); and
Medrash Shmuel (Frankfurt am Main, 1715).
In the lengthy provenance, Rabbi Grunhut notes that he was in the year mourning his mother, the daughter of his illustrious grandfather, Rabbi Shimon Ginzburg, Av Beis Din of Frankfurt.
Bound to the back of the sefer are 15 leaves (30 sides) of handwritten indexes for all the verses explained in the sefer.
