Beautiful letter from the holy ‘Vayaged Yaakov’ from Pupa.
Only goodness and kindness shall follow you all the days
A letter of affection, and blessings for a bar mitzvah celebration.,
Written entirely in the holy handwriting and signature of the founder of the Pupa dynasty, the holy Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Hezkia Greenwald, son of the ‘Arugat HaBosem’.
In his warm words, he blesses: "May God help that you see from this son and all your offspring much satisfaction and joy, only goodness and kindness shall follow you all the days".
One of Hungary’s famous Geonim – Rabbi Yaakov Hezkia Greenwald,
author of ‘Vayaged Yaakov’ (1882-1941 [5642-5701]), son and student of the ‘Arugat HaBosem’ of Chust, and nephew of Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald, Rabbi of Satmar. From his youth, he served as rabbi in the communities of Tsehelim, Huniad, and finally in the community of Pupa where he served until his passing. He authored
Vayaged Yaakov on the Torah, and from his responsa
Mishpatecha L’Yaakov was printed.
His son who continued his path is the Admor Rabbi Yosef Greenwald from Pupa, author of
Vayechi Yosef, who testifies in his introduction to
Vayaged Yaakov that his holy father appeared to him several times in his dreams during the Holocaust, and strengthened and encouraged him in difficult times.
