A miniature volume including 12 miniature pocket calendars for the years 1893-1905 that
were printed together in the city of Calcutta, India.
Compiled by the printer Yechezkel ben Sliman Chanin.
Printed at the beginning of each month is the zodiac illustration for that month, resulting in a total of 144 illustrations!
The Jewish community in Calcutta (as the city was formerly known) in northeast India was founded in the late eighteenth century by Jewish merchants from Baghdad and Aleppo.
The first printing press was established there in 1841 and operated until 1857, after which printing work ceased until it was reestablished by Yechezkel Chanin in 1871.
Throughout the sefer are dozens of notations in oriental handwriting, including yahrzeit records for Jews from Bombay, and more.
