Rare Document Signed by the Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz in His Final Years, with Signature of His Son the Yeshuos Moshe

An official document applying to register the ‘Ahavas Yisrael V’Ohr HaChaim’ society as a legally recognized company. The society was established and led by the saintly Admor Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager of Vizhnitz, author of the ‘Imrei Chaim’. Under his leadership, this company went on to establish the renowned Vizhnitz neighborhood, Shikun Vizhnitz.

The document is signed by the society’s president – the Imrei Chaim himself, who was in his final days. His advanced age is clearly evident in his holy signature.

After him is the signature of his son, Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager, who would later take over his father’s position and lead the Vizhnitz chassidus.

It is extremely rare to find a document jointly signed by both Rebbes – the father, the Imrei Chaim and his eldest son the Yeshuos Moshe!

Following their signatures are the signatures of: Rabbi Yaakov David Vizhnitzer, Rabbi Yitzchak Eisik Adler, Rabbi Simcha Aryeh Stern and Rabbi Zelig Steinmetz.

Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, author of ‘Imrei Chaim’ was born in 1888 to his father the Rebbe Yisroel of Vizhnitz. He served as his father’s trusted aide throughout his lifetime and assumed the mantle of leadership following his passing. After the Holocaust, he rebuilt and reestablished Vizhnitz Chassidus. In 1947 he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael where he reestablished the Vizhnitz institutions. He was among the leaders of chareidi Jewry until his passing in 1972.

His son, Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager, author of ‘Yeshuos Moshe’, was born in 1916, and after his illustrious father’s passing in 1972, began leading his congregation until his passing at an advanced age in 2012. He merited that all his sons are among the generation’s leaders: his two sons are the Rebbes of Vizhnitz, and his sons-in-law are the Admor Rabbi Dovid Twersky of Skver, the Admor Rabbi Yissachar Dov Rokeach of Belz, and the Admor Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar.
